Editing services

Whether you’re a published poet or first-time writer, I’m keen to help creative people at all stages of development hone their work and unlock its full potential.

How it works

As your editor, I can provide:

  1. Spelling, grammar and punctuation checks
  2. Line edits to improve clarity, flow, originality and authenticity
  3. Macro edits to improve the overall structure and impact of your piece
  4. Tailored feedback and support regarding any specific issues you are facing with your work

If you’re interested in working with me, please send an email to hannahledlie@gmail.com. After discussing your piece and the kind of edits you would like, together we will agree upon a timeline and fee. Once I have finished your edits, I will send them via email along with an invoice. I like to deliver edits via a combination of Word’s Tracked Changes and simple written paragraphs; if you would prefer to receive edits in a different format just let me know.

Price list

The prices below are an estimate and may change depending on the depth of edits you require. For example, I will offer lower prices if you only require proof-reading (aka spelling, grammar and punctuation corrections).

Students and those on a low income will receive a 20% discount. No documentation is required, just let me know you require the discount in your initial message.

Testimonials

Hannah Ledlie is a wonderful, attentive editor with a keen eye for what a piece needs to reach its potential. The feedback she provides is well-balanced and constructive, giving you a clear sense of a piece’s strengths, and places where it could be made stronger. Hannah can improve the impact of your work with one unilateral tweak, as well as offering subtle improvements in word-choice and sentence structure. I can’t recommend her services enough.

Jonah Corren

Using her keen eye for language choices and her deep understanding of form, Hannah helps me to find new directions in my writing and use techniques which better lend themselves to the nature of my work. Hannah has always placed great emphasis on author intent and is not scared of pushing me to question my own, whilst also acknowledging when I’m aiming in a specific direction and helping to ensure that I achieve these intentions regardless of her own personal preferences. Her experience and talent, rigorous approach and gentle nature means she is always my very first choice of editor!

Alex Calver

Between 2020 and ’22 Hannah and I were coursemates on Oxford’s Creative Writing MSt programme, and her feedback stood out as some of the most constructive, purposeful and original among our workshop groups. I continue to trust her editorial input and I know her feedback has made me a better writer. Hannah is a talented and successful writer herself, with a flair for poetry. Her expertise and dedication to her craft shine through in everything she does, and she is a pleasure to work with.
